Language Support

At Le Régent, we are committed to helping every student reach their full potential within a challenging and supportive learning environment. Guided by our ethos, “Be the best YOU can be”, we promote an inclusive approach where each learner is understood, valued and empowered.
Supporting Every Learner to Thrive
Learning Support may include in-class strategies, tailored access arrangements for examinations, or additional individual lessons. Our focus is on equipping students with the skills and strategies they need to thrive in their mainstream classes, while working closely with teachers to minimise barriers to learning.
Where appropriate, students may have an Individualised Education Plan (IEP) to ensure that all staff understand how best to support their learning profile. Further details can be found in our Inclusion Policy.

Identifying Strengths and Areas for Growth
All students from Grade 1 to IB1 undertake baseline assessments in the autumn term. This enables teachers to understand each student’s strengths and areas for growth, ensuring appropriate support and challenge from the outset.
Assessment continues throughout the year through ongoing classroom evaluation and close collaboration between teachers and specialist staff. Where necessary, we work with external professionals to gain deeper insight into a student’s needs. Should additional specialist assessment be recommended, parents or guardians will be contacted directly.
Personalised Support Beyond the Classroom
We offer one-to-one Learning Support sessions for students who benefit from additional guidance. These personalised programmes are designed to build confidence, develop effective learning strategies and help students overcome specific barriers.
We value strong partnerships with families and encourage parents to share relevant information, goals or concerns during the admissions process and throughout their child’s education at Le Régent.
Details of supplementary fees are outlined in the school’s financial terms and conditions.

Examination Access Arrangements
Access Arrangements are reasonable adjustments made for examinations, such as additional time, supervised rest breaks or the use of a word processor.
These arrangements can only be granted when they reflect a student’s normal way of working and are supported by documented evidence of need. In many cases, assessment by a specialist or Educational Psychologist is required. As this process can take time, we recommend that any concerns are raised during the admissions process or no later than Grade 8.
Academic Support Pathway
For a small number of students, structured Academic Support lessons provide the opportunity to focus on core subjects. These sessions usually replace language acquisition lessons (such as German, Spanish or Mandarin) and, in exceptional cases, may replace another subject upon recommendation of the Head of Learning Support.
Supplementary fees apply.
